The Importance of the Assessor
Your assessor is the head of sales for your gym. They’re the key person for bringing in new clients, the lynchpin of a successful operation.
Why is the assessor so important?
They take a prospect from knowing very little about your gym, to committing to paying a significant amount of money every month for at least a year. Many people will feel daunted by the idea of joining a mainstream gym, never mind a training gym, and the assessor is there to make their first contact with you seamless and overwhelmingly positive.
They are the bridge between the training team and the members. They make the sometimes intimidating image of the trainers more approachable, and coordinate goals and ideas across the two groups.
They understand both the sales side of things, and the training side of things. All of your staff should have sales training, but the assessor lives, eats, and breathes sales, while also being technically excellent – which makes him or her a rare beast.
Without someone in the role of assessor, the client experience in the first 30 days isn’t properly nurtured. The assessor is highly familiar with the on-boarding process and keeps a personal connection with each and every client that comes through.
Without a good assessor, you simply won’t convert trials to sales.
